10th Anniversary of the Climate Change Act
On 26 November, Energy UK jointly hosted a Parliamentary event to mark the 10th Anniversary of the Climate Change Act, in partnership with the Committee on Climate Change, the All-Party Parliamentary Climate Change Group and Policy Connect.
Speakers at the event included Caroline Lucas MP, Claire Perry MP, Ed Miliband MP, Lawrence Slade, Dr Emily Shuckburgh and Lord Deben. Energy UK also used the occasion to formally launch Energy and our Environment - a collection of essays on the anniversary featuring contributions from leading politicians, scientists, academics and regulators as well as figures from the energy sector and environmental groups – and also published a ten-point action plan setting out areas where the industry and government can work together to continue and accelerate the UK’s progress in tackling climate change.
The reception also saw the UK premiere of a short film Energy UK made with ten year old students from Micklem Primary School in Hemel Hempstead talking about climate change – do have a watch of it here.
