Seasons greetings from Energy UK
The holidays are approaching, and we're reflecting on the many highlights of what has been a fascinating year for energy, Energy UK itself and its members.
The industry is moving forward and adapting to the changes, switching is on the rise with 3.3m switches in the year 2014. In particular switches from large suppliers to small suppliers were up with 1.3m customers choosing to move. Tariffs are no longer complex they are simpler than ever. The industry has become more transparent with companies becoming more open about their costs and their profits. On the Generation side Electricity Market Reform is now coming through, Contracts for Difference and the Capacity Market Auction are all moving forward and playing a big part in the future of the energy industry. Energy UK has also been producing both Retail and Generation magazine style publications which give an insight into both sides of the industry and are set to continue next year with the next special on technical challenges within Generation.
At Energy UK, we will also be seeing changes with both Lord Spicer and Angela Knight CBE standing down. Both have been integral in pushing Energy UK to where it is today, however the New Year will see new stewardship with Sir David Arculus as chairman, and Lawrence Slade as Interim CEO. The next year is sure to be an interesting time ahead, and we look forward to what it might bring.
Seasons greetings from all at Energy UK.
