Energy UK comments on the IPPR report
The Institute for Public Policy Research have released a report today called ‘when the levy breaks: energy bills, green levies and a fairer low carbon transition’. The report talked about the impact of the rise in energy bills to fund the low-carbon and social policies upon different parts of the society.
Lawrence Slade, chief executive of Energy UK, said:
“Energy companies work hard to both make homes warm and energy-efficient and support those facing difficulties paying their bills. They spend hundreds of thousands of pounds each year to help customers in difficulty, through a number of programmes including the Warm Home Discount and trust funds.
“It is easier than ever to switch energy company and customers should take advantage of the good deals out there.
“People struggling to pay their energy bills should contact their energy provider, or call the Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99 where friendly advisors are on hand to help.”
