Energy UK response to uSwitch on consumer debt
Following uSwitch's research on consumers heading into winter in debt to their energy suppliers. Energy UK has issued the following statement.
Energy UK said:
“No one should have to worry about paying their bills or being in debt this winter. The first step for anyone concerned about their energy bills must be to contact their energy supplier. Help is readily available from £140 off the bill for eligible energy customers to many industry led initiatives for those struggling.
“Switching energy supplier should also be considered, even if you are in debt, switching could save you hundreds of pounds. There are over 40 suppliers in the market and with the Energy Switch Guarantee in place, customers should make sure they are set to save for winter.”
