Energy UK statement on consumer benefit of Smart Meters
Following the recent news coverage around Smart Meters, Energy UK has issued the following statement.
Lawrence Slade, Chief Executive of Energy UK said:
"Smart meters are set to bring a net £5.7bn in savings to customers and it’s encouraging to see that eight in 10 people with a smart meter would recommend them to others.
"Smart meters will mean an end to estimated billing and show consumers exactly what they are spending in pounds and pence, and in near real-time. By gaining a greater understanding of their energy use, consumers will be able to save energy and money, by changing how they use their energy or by looking to see if they could switch to a better deal.
“Easier switching and improved customer information will also drive competition for customers which will keep prices competitive and ensure customer service is a priority."
